Midrand Graduate Institute (MGI) was established in 1989 – and is thus in operation for more than 22 years.
MGI is a private university-level, degree-conferring institution – one of the first of its kind in Southern Africa. We are accredited by the CHE to offer 20 undergraduate, 3 honours and 1 masters degree within six Faculties.
MGI is well known for its excellence in career-focused programmes that are accredited locally and recognised internationally.
We have established agreements and partnerships with local and international higher education institutions. These partnerships are rooted in a shared commitment to provide relevant education of high quality. This adds strength and diversity to MGI's programmes and broadens the learning opportunities for MGI students.
Agreements with other institutions include:
- North-West University (SA)
- Cape Peninsula University of Technology (SA)
- Monash SA
- UNISA (SA)
- Radford University College (Ghana)

Pearson (the holding company of both MGI and CTI) has made a high-level and well-considered strategic decision to implement Technology-Enhanced Learning (TEL) as the primary vehicle for teaching and learning. The chosen device provided to our students at MGI for the implementation of this strategy is the Samsung Galaxy Note 8 Tablet. This choice was made after extensive consultation and trial runs with both students and academics. Read more about Technology-Enhanced Learning at MGI.
