- BCom Accounting - 50% and above in Mathematics
- Any BSc degree - 50% or above in Mathematics and English
- BSc in Biomedicine and BSc in Biotechnology Degree:
- The points attained for the best 2 subjects from Biology,English, Physics, and Science must be doubled
- BSc in Computer Science and Informatics Degree:
- The points attained for the best 2 subjects from English, Mathematics and Computer Science must be doubled
- Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) – 50% or above for English

Students with international school leaving certificates, may be required to submit documentation to the South African Qualifications Authority (SAQA). It is the student’s responsibility to contact SAQA directly.

Please note that non-South African students whose first language is not English may be required to provide proof of proficiency in English prior to admission.
It is advised that propective students contact the Student Recruitment Department or consult the website for entry requirements specific to the student’s country of origin.
Registration procedures
Before submitting an application, students are welcome to consult MGI’s Student Advisors. Student Advisors are able to guide students in choosing the correct subjects and to assist them with the application process.
Further, with regards to general career advice and subject choices, a career testing service is offered by the Student Advisors. The testing consists of extensive psychometric tests to establish the student’s abilities and interests. For more information, please contact a Student Advisor on +27(0)11 690-1700
To apply, applicants must submit the following to the Student Advisory Unit:

- A completed registration form.
- A certified copy of results for the latest school year completed ( Grade 11 or 12).
- A certified copy of the front page of the student’s identity document.
- A certified copy of the front page of the identity document of the person who will be responsible for the payment
of the student’s MGI fees.
- If the student has previously attended another higher education institution, a certified copy of his/her academic
transcript and certificate of good conduct from the relevant institution.
- A salary advice or 3 months’ bank statements of the person who will be responsible for the payment of the student’s MGI fees if a credit option is chosen.

Please note that non-South African students will be required to submit a valid study permit to the Student Advisory Unit before the closing date for registration.
Please ensure that the relevant registration fee accompanies the completed registration form.
UNISA application process
As a prerequisite for enrolment at MGI towards a UNISA qualification, the student must be registered as a student of UNISA. The applicant is solely responsible for his/her UNISA registration. Where possible, MGI will assist with registration at UNISA. A UNISA applicant who does not meet UNISA entry requirements may not be registered for any UNISA tuition programme offered at MGI. Confirmation of registration with UNISA must be lodged by the student with MGI prior to the closing date for registration. Proof of any amendment to the UNISA registration must be submitted immediately by the student to MGI.
Please note that students who wish to study a UNISA programme through MGI are required to register with both UNISA and MGI. UNISA Registration Forms and Information Booklets are available from MGI’s Student Advisors.
Subject/module exemptions – MGI programmes
A student who wishes to apply for module/subject exemption must submit an application for module/subject exemption to a Student Advisor before the closing date indicated on the registration form. Registration forms are available from
Student Advisors.
The following documents must accompany the application:

- Copy of module/subject syllabus (course outlines).
- Original or certified copy of academic transcript (results) from institution at which subject/module was completed.
- Details on the duration of module/subject.
- Examples of tests/assignments.

A student may be granted exemption from a maximum of 40% of the total number of subjects/modules prescribed for any MGI qualification.
