Description

 

The UNISA Bachelor of Commerce degree in Law is a specialised degree suitable for students who wish to link a commercial background with that of law. A person with this background can work in an insurance company, a merchant bank, or any other financial institution. Graduates can also consider working in the commercial department of a law firm. The combination of a legal background with business is an excellent blend for anyone aiming to start a business. This degree is conferred by UNISA, with students attending lectures at MGI.

 

Qualification structure

 

The syllabus comprises three levels:

 

Level 1 

  • Introduction to Economics and Management
  • Environment IA and IB
  • Economics IA and IB
  • Business Management IA and IB
  • Accounting Concepts, Principles and Procedures
  • Accounting Reporting for Legal Practices
  • Law of Persons
  • Family Law
  • Entrepreneurial Law
  • Insolvency Law 

Level 2 

  • Law of Property
  • Law of Negotiable Instruments, Intellectual Property and
  • Competition
  • Law of Succession
  • Labour Law
  • Forensic Industrial Psychology
  • Plus any five second-level modules from group A and B as listed in the UNISA booklet.

Level 3 

  • Law of Contract
  • Law of Delict 

And three of the following: 

  • Advanced Labour Law
  • Tax Law
  • Insurance Law
  • Banking Law and Usage
  • Advanced Law of Contract
  • Agency and Cession
  • Law of Damages
  • Plus any third-level modules from Group A as listed in the UNISA Booklet.
