Description:

MGI’s Pre-degree programme offers a holistic approach to a bridging year between school and university. The Programme Leader’s responsibilities include assisting students with all administrative aspects of their studies, and acting as a mentor, with the task being to facilitate the students’ integration into tertiary study, and to take care of the students’ personal and social well-being.

As mentor, the Programme Leader will assist students with any personal and interpersonal problems they may encounter by empowering them with the skills necessary for a successful tertiary experience. Mentoring takes place once a week or once every second week, on both an individual and a small group basis, depending on the individual student’s need.

MGI’s Pre-degree programme also ensures that students’ academic progress is monitored and developed. Pre-degree students attend subject lectures and, in addition, receive a weekly tutorial, which focuses on the academic skills necessary
for success in their specific study area. Academic tutors assist students with developing effective assignment, test, and examination skills. Tutorials also provide students with additional resource material to enrich and enhance their
understanding of their particular field of study.
